The Garden at 485 Elm
People growing together:
a collaborative community garden in Montpelier, Vermont

Donations: Feeding the Community

Once crops are producing plentifully, we donate to organizations feeding community members in need. In addition to being a gleaning partner of Community Harvest of Central Vermont in our first season, we’ve donated to the free community lunches at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier on Mondays, and at Christ Episcopal Church on Wednesdays.

There are several free community lunches in the area: https://www.cvcoa.org/community-meals.html

Just harvested. 485 Elm gardener Meredith picked the food and flowers, then took this lovely photo.

Here’s the food on the garden shed table under the awning. This is where our Donations Team can leave food and then notify whoever will deliver it (usually me).

Volunteers at Christ Episcopal Church receive our offering. They said the food would be prepared and served by 11 a.m.
