Garden workday mid-thaw Snow has finally melted off the garden. But the ground remains frozen a few inches below the surface. There is much to do. Delicious remnants from last season: spinach, Brussels sprouts, and Good King Henry. Brussels sprouts that got trapped under ice last December are tasty this April. Windy, rainy weather means row cover will have to hang out to dry another time. Black plastic sheets warm the rows. Moving thawed, wet, heavy coffee bags from last season is an accomplishment. Some will be re-used, some composted.
