The new health-and-safety considerations for work parties and gardeners gardening here on their own are working well. Seed and seedlings are in the ground: peas, onions, carrots, salad greens, kale, and more. Art projects and experimental crops are under way.
We wondered how (or even if) this season was going to go. So far we are delighted.
At work parties, we require RSVPs, limit the number of people in the fenced garden together, require masks, and enforce 6’–10′ physical distance between gardeners not sharing the same household. The onion planters rocked it!This high-risk gardener enters the garden only with another member of his household and gets the job done. Oh, look: some of last season’s onions. We’re still brainstorming how to get them all on harvest day. Any tips?
