Planting Lots, Eating Well
Today we nearly cleared the seedling table of the plants we started and purchased.
Snipping off garlic scapes lets the garlic plant use all resources — sun, soil nutrients, water — for growing bigger garlic bulbs.
Garlic scapes are delicious in salads, stir fries, and pesto. They also freeze well for a winter blast of summer flavor.
All remaining cauliflower seedlings are planted.
New beds are prepped. In the background, tomato plants hung with string so they’ll grow up on those metal trellises.
Today this row was planted with celery, fennel, eggplant, and okra.
