The gardeners at The Garden at 485 Elm had a very productive Sunday. In addition to completing immediate, ongoing needs like weeding, the team worked all day and brought longer-term projects to completion.
First task of the day: Recycling pallets into a 6-bin composting system
Walkways will no longer need weeding thanks to sacks from Green Mountain Coffee. When the chipper comes, the walkways will be covered with wood chips
Building trellises for the short peas
Pounding posts for the tall pea trellises
‘
Mixing potting soil to start the vining plants, like winter squashes, summer squashes, and cucumbers
Planting new dill seeds so we can enjoy fresh dill all season long
Teamwork
A second team gets started on doors for the compost bins.
