Putting the garden to bed
Two beautiful weather days meant two productive work days at The Garden at 485 Elm.
Jean, Chris and Cindy are lasagna composting.
Chris tills leaves into what was the corn bed. Later, other gardeners broadcast winter rye seeds for cover crop.
Norma and Jason add leaves for mulch around still-productive beds. We’ll be eating kale, collards, chard, spinach, and bok choy for some time yet.
Bernice covers the herb garden plots for winter.
Barre-Montpelier Times Argus photographer Jeb Wallace-Brodeur visited the garden and caught Sheryl spreading leaves.
