Susan Gerretson joined the garden in early 2020 and has been the garden’s Flower Lady since 2021. Remember what that time was like? The garden needed Susan and her passion for flowers. Still does! A few small rows of flowers evolved into hundreds, then literally thousands of seedlings.

Christie, a Flower Power gardener, transplants flower seedlings that Susan started in her condo and tended through early spring on growing shelves.
Susan starts and tends them at home, on warmed, lighted growing shelves. In the late spring, Susan leads the Flower Power team in transplanting annual flowers into the garden. Volunteers tend and harvest the flowers all season long. Some gardeners arrange them into bouquets for gardeners to take home.

This season, Susan and Flower Power took flowers on the road. A couple of miles from the garden, Flower Power team tends beds in front of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center (MSAC).
Here’s Susan, in her own words, from the MSAC newsletter:

Back at the garden, gardeners continue enjoying the glorious flowers right here.
