Fall Gardening for Real

These are the very last cherry tomatoes of the season. Frost-sensitive plants are done. No more tomatoes, eggplants, hot peppers, basil, beans, or peas.
Where tomatoes once grew, we’re putting garden beds to bed.
The harvesting board is sparse and getting sparser.
It’s uplifting to see flowers still in bloom.
New crops are going in. Kind neighbors loaded up a garden team with rhubarb, a new crop for this garden.
Horseradish is another new crop here.
It’s not often we have garden homework. In addition to a robust garlic crop for eating, we grew all the seed garlic we needed. Gardeners took them home to separate the heads into cloves. The garlic beds are ready to receive seed garlic cloves this weekend.
