Warming Up for Warm-Weather Crops
Chris plants ground cherry (or husk cherry) seedlings. We decided not to grow tomatoes this season, as they take many, many hours of care every week. Ground cherries are a tomato relative that’s much easier to grow and is delicious to eat right off the bush like fresh fruit or add to salads, stir fries, soups, pizza, and more.
Our ground cherry crop is a couple of months away. Here’s some of our 2017 crop with calendula flowers, which are edible and very tasty.
Robin and Liz separate violets for transplantation.
Gardeners will take home violets and we’ll donate some for other community members to enjoy.
