Squash Harvest

Temperatures are nearing freezing at night. Squash and cucumbers are very cold sensitive and will rot if exposed to frost. So we eat!

In this pandemic-era garden season, we have smaller and fewer work parties. We miss our gatherings, but a safe, viable garden season is the most important thing. Five of us harvested all the winter squash.
We counted the squash and divided them into shares. The garden’s eighteen gardener households each get four delicata and four butternut squash.
We harvested the rest of the summer squash and blossoms.
We picked the rest of the cucumbers too. Well, mostly. No matter how many times we return to the vines, we find more of those tiny, flavorful watermelon cukes. Get ’em before frost!
